nhspy-plotthedots v0.1.6 (alpha)

Calculate control limits and draw Statistical Process Control charts in python.

Welcome to the NHS Python Community’s python version of the NHS-Rplotthedots package.

The NHSR Plot the Dots package was built by the NHS-R community to provide tools for drawing statistical process control (SPC) charts. The package supports the NHS England programme ‘Making Data Count’. The programme encourages boards, managers, and analyst teams to present data in ways that show change over time, and drive better understanding of indicators than ‘RAG’ (red, amber, green) rated reports often present.

Note

Please be aware that this package is in the early stages of development, and features may change.

Statistical Process Control

Statistical process control (SPC) is an analytical technique that plots data over time. It helps us understand variation and in so doing guides us to take the most appropriate action.

SPC is a good technique to use when implementing change as it enables you to understand whether changes you are making are resulting in improvement — a key component of the Model for Improvement widely used within the NHS.
